DSLR Photography Curriculum for Kids: Level 2, Master the Camera (Ages 8-18, Instant Download)

£24.99

Level 1 teaches the controls. Level 2 teaches the craft.

DSLR Photography Curriculum for Kids: Level 2, Master the Camera gives confident young photographers the skills that separate a snapshot from a photograph they planned. Each chapter explains one idea, shows it with an original diagram, then sends your child out to try it with the camera.

It continues with the PH-ART-ED Method from Level 1 and adds the decisions photographers make every time they raise the camera: the colour of the light, how the camera measures it, how movement looks, and which lens suits the scene.

What your child will learn

  • How white balance and Kelvin change the mood of a photograph

  • How the camera meters light, including spot metering

  • How to read a histogram and correct exposure before leaving the scene

  • How to use light: direction, quality and time of day

  • How to photograph movement with burst mode, panning and long exposure

  • How focal length and lens choice change a photograph

  • Advanced focus: zone focus, tracking and back-button focus

  • How to choose settings for a situation, with a Settings Challenge and answers

Questions:

Do we need Level 1 first? Your child needs to be comfortable in Manual mode. Level 1 teaches that, and the bundle includes both books at a lower price.

Which cameras does it work with? Any DSLR or mirrorless camera with Manual mode. Spot metering and back-button focus appear on most modern cameras, and the book shows how to find them.

What ages is it for? 8-18. The writing is clear and direct, so it suits confident younger readers and teenagers.

Do we need a tripod? One chapter includes a long exposure mission, which works best with a tripod or a camera resting on a wall, table or bean bag.

Is it a physical book? It is a digital PDF, ready to download as soon as you pay. Print it or read it on a screen.

What comes after Level 2? A Post-Production curriculum is coming soon, covering editing RAW files.
